Structure of the courses

At the United Repair Academy, you follow various modules necessary to obtain a certificate.

During the course, you gain theoretical knowledge, practical experience, focus on personal skills, and receive guidance from our practical supervisor.

The theoretical classes are taught by teachers from ROC Amsterdam.

Training for Production Prep

5 - 6 weeks Modules: • Basic Atelier Skills • Basic Knowledge of Materials • Basic Skills in Measurement and Cutting Dutch Technical Vocabulary & Personal Development Possible paid position: • Production Planner Tasks: • Include removing zippers and loosening seams

Training for Repair Assistant

5 - 8 weeks Modules: • Knowledge of the operation of the main machines • Basic pattern drawing • Basic sewing techniques • Performing repairs Dutch, Mathematics, Sustainability, Citizenship & Personal Development Possible paid position: • Repair Assistant Tasks: • Performing repairs (with guidance)

Training for Repair Technician

8 - 10 weeks Modules: • Performing more complex repairs Dutch, Mathematics, Sustainability, Citizenship & Personal Development Possible paid position: • Repair Technician • Opportunity to complete BBL Tasks: • Independently performing (complex) repairs

Modulair education as a flexible basis

A module is a unit with learning material centered around a specific theme. The initial modules are sequential, and there are also elective modules that can be chosen.

To be eligible to receive a certificate, participants must complete the associated modules. Following this, a certificate is issued, corresponding to a paid position within the United Repair Centre.

For whom is it?

The United Repair Academy is for anyone interested in repairing clothing! We specifically invite individuals without formal education and employment to apply.

Complete the modules at your own pace

Through modular education, each participant can complete modules at their own pace.

Extra attention to language development

We invite everyone to the training and provide extra attention to individuals for whom the Dutch language is still a challenge.

At least 24 hours per week

Every course we offer requires a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week at our location in Amsterdam West.

No tuition fees

There are no costs associated with the training. Additionally, travel expenses are reimbursed for individuals outside Amsterdam.
